ANALISIS ASPEK MONUMENTAL DAN KARAKTER GEREJA BLENDUK (GPIB IMANUEL) SEMARANG, SEBAGAI UPAYA PELE STARIAN BANGUNAN CAGAR BUDAYA

Abstract

Blenduk Church (GPIB Immanuel) is the most iconic heritage building in the Old City of Semarang, possessing high historical dan monumental value. This study aims to identify the spatial, visual, dan structural characters of Blenduk Church to formulate appropriate physical preservation strategies. The research method employs a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis through literature studies, field observations, interviews, dan visual documentation in the form of re-drawn sketches by Thalia Baladraf. The analysis reveals that Blenduk Church features a radial spatial organization with a Greek Cross plan, an architectural style blending Neoclassical dan Medieval elements, dan a rare tin-plated iron dome structure. Based on the cultural significance assessment, building elements are classified into three potential categories (high, medium, dan low). Recommended preservation strategies include strict preservation dan conservation of high-potential elements to maintain material authenticity dan historical integrity, alongside rehabilitation dan limited reconstruction for medium dan low-potential elements. This research underscores the importance of synergy between physical aspects dan philosophical values in the conservation efforts of colonial heritage buildings.
