Evaluation of Antihypertensive Use in Pregnant Women with Preeclampsia at RSUD Kabupaten Bekasi in 2024

Hypertension was one of the common health problems that occurred during pregnancy, with one of its complications being preeclampsia. Preeclampsia was a major cause of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality, and its prevalence in Indonesia remained quite high, including in Bekasi Regency. The management of preeclampsia included the rational use of antihypertensive drugs to reduce the risk of eclampsia. This study aimed to describe patient demographics, the profile of antihypertensive use, and to evaluate the appropriateness of antihypertensive use in pregnant women. The results of this study showed that the use of antihypertensive drugs in pregnant women with preeclampsia at RSUD Bekasi Regency in 2024 was dominated by single therapy with methyldopa (73.33%), followed by combinations of methyldopa with nifedipine (21.67%), methyldopa with amlodipine (3.33%), and single nifedipine (1.67%). The evaluation of appropriateness showed that the right patient, indication, drug, and dosage each reached 100%. The use of antihypertensive drugs in pregnant women with preeclampsia at RSUD Bekasi Regency was generally rational according to therapeutic standards, in terms of drug selection, dosage, as well as suitability for patient and indication.
