Plagiarism Policy

Policy Statement

The Editorial Team of SAINSTECH: Jurnal Penelitian dan Pengkajian Sains dan Teknologi considers plagiarism a serious violation of academic and publication integrity. All manuscripts submitted to SAINSTECH must be original works, properly acknowledge the sources used, and not be under consideration for publication in another journal.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of using or presenting another party's ideas, statements, data, images, research findings, or other works as one's own without appropriate attribution or adequate acknowledgment of the original source. Plagiarism may occur intentionally or unintentionally. SAINSTECH also does not permit duplicate publication, simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals, or the reuse of substantial portions of previously published work without appropriate disclosure and citation.

Manuscript Similarity Checking

SAINSTECH uses Turnitin as a tool to assist in checking the similarity of submitted manuscripts. Similarity reports are used as part of the editorial evaluation process to identify passages that require further examination. SAINSTECH generally uses a similarity range of 15–20% as an initial evaluation guideline, with the initial similarity report including the reference list. If the initial similarity score exceeds 20%, the editor may conduct further examination by excluding the bibliography (exclude bibliography) to assess the level of similarity in the main text. The similarity percentage is not the sole basis for determining whether plagiarism has occurred. Editors consider the identified sources, the context of the similarities, the accuracy of citations and references, and the nature and severity of any potential violation before making an editorial decision.

Handling Allegations of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is suspected, the editor will examine the available evidence and may request clarification from the author(s), where necessary. Decisions will be made based on the findings, the authors' responses, and the severity of the alleged violation. Possible actions include requesting revisions or clarification, rejecting the manuscript, or taking other appropriate editorial action according to the nature and severity of the violation. If suspected plagiarism is identified after an article has been published, SAINSTECH will conduct a further investigation and take appropriate action, including issuing a correction or retracting the article when warranted.

Authors' Responsibilities

All authors are responsible for ensuring that their submitted manuscripts are original works, that all sources are properly cited, and that the use of third-party materials complies with applicable requirements. Authors must also provide accurate information throughout the evaluation process and cooperate with the editor in resolving any allegations of misconduct.

Editorial Authority

The editor has the authority to evaluate suspected plagiarism and determine appropriate actions based on the available evidence, the severity of the violation, and SAINSTECH's editorial policies. Cases will be handled professionally and proportionately, with due consideration for the integrity of scholarly publishing.
